Honeybush (Cyclopia intermedia)*: A cousin of the rooibos plant, honeybush is a beautiful South African shrub adorned with bright yellow flowers. The tea is made from the leaves and stems of this plant, which boast a smooth, sweet, full-bodied flavour without any caffeine or bitterness! Honeybush is rich in bone-strenghening minerals and immune-boosting antioxidants. It can help reduce stress and nervousness, as well as improve sleep quality (something new parents are often in need of)! It was traditionally used to treat coughs, colds, and other respiratory ailments due to its expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties. And in case we forgot to mention... it's delicious!
Fennel Seed (Foeniculum vulgare)*: Fennel contains natural estrogen-like properties which help to increase the quantity, flow, and fat content of breastmilk. It is also beneficial for fussy babies suffering from colic or intestinal distress, as it contains properties which soothe and relieve gas.
Rosehips (Rosa canina)*: Rosehips are naturally high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as antioxidants which help to prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer. They are also antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory, and help to boost the immune system while providing nourishment for both mother and baby.
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)*: This fragrant tropical grass does more than just smell and taste fantastic, it also helps to reduce anxiety and stress, curb stomach and respiratory disorders, ease and prevent infections, boost the immune system, and gently detoxify the body.
Blessed Thistle (Cnicus benedictus)*: Similar to vervain, blessed thistle contains compounds which make it useful for easing digestive distress while stimulating milk flow. It protects the immune system by fighting off bad bacteria, and provides anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits as well.
Shatavari Root (Asparagus racemosus)*: Highly regarded as one of the most valuable herbs for womens health, shatavari works to nourish the female reproductive system while supporting the adrenals to assist with stress, anxiety, and lack of sleep (something new parents know all about). It has the ability to tone the uterus following childbirth, and balance hormones to maintain overall health of our bodies and minds.
Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata)*: A helpful digestive tonic, vervain helps not only to calm your own tummy, but your baby's as well. This herb works to relax intestinal spasms, which helps to relieve colic (and therefore, your peace of mind)! Vervain is also anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. If that weren't enough, vervain can also help stimulate production of breastmilk, so your baby can get all those stomach-calming properties with every feed.
Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica)*: One of the safest and most nutritious herbs available, nettle leaf contains valuable amino acids, protein, flavonoids, and bone-building minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. It helps promote healthy milk production, balance blood sugar, and restore energy levels and vitality postpartum.
Fenugreek Seed (Trigonella foenum graecum)*: Fenugreek is known to increase milk production, especially when taken in the earliest days following childbirth. It can help reduce inflammation and pain, and promotes healthy skin, hair, and digestion.
