Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)*: This spicy little root adds heat not only to your drink, but to your body as well. Ginger helps to enhance blood flow, getting you in the mood and keeping you there, while decreasing oxidative stress, which helps to improve both sexual function and sperm quality.
Milky Oat Seed (Avena sativa)*: Produced by the same plant you get your morning oats from, this ripe, green seed pod is filled with a milky-white fluid when picked, hinting at its ability to increase libido and boost fertility. It is full of minerals and vitamins, and works to both calm and nourish the adrenals, which helps to combat feelings of stress and overwhelm.
Jamaican Sarsaparilla Root (Smilax regelii)*: Once a staple ingredient in traditional root beer, this zippy and warm-tasting root contains compounds which help to enhance blood flow (therefore increasing sex drive) and improve sperm motility, making it an excellent addition to our fertility-boosting tea.
Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus)*: Also known as eleuthero root, this herb has been used for centuries to enhance men's reproductive health by improving sperm count, motility, and overall sperm quality. It has also been known to reduce stress, increase energy, and strengthen the immune system.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)*: The spicy/sweet bark of the cinnamomum tree has been long revered for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It helps to warm the body from the inside out by increasing blood flow, while supporting the respiratory, nervous, circulatory, urinary, and reproductive systems. At Flourish Apothecary, we utilize only true (ceylon) cinnamon, instead of the more commonly-used cassia variety, as it contains only a trace amount of coumarins (a compound which can be toxic to the liver when consumed frequently).
Tribulus (Tribulus terrestris)*: This plant is commonly referred to as puncture vine or devil's thorn, and for good reason! These incredibly sharp, spiny fruits are commonly used in TCM and ayurvedic herbal medicine for their ability to balance blood sugar and cholesterol, while increasing sexual function and libido. Just take care when handling to avoid being pricked!
Epimedium Leaf (Epimedium koreanum)*: Commonly known as 'horny goat weed', this herb has been accurately named due to its ability to enhance libido and improve erectile dysfunction. It is also a great source of antioxidants and can help to relieve pain and fatigue.
Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens)*: Native to the southeastern United States, the ripened berries of the Saw Palmetto tree have been traditionally used as a food and medicine to support the prostate, increase sperm production and libido, and ease urinary difficulties.
